This has been fixed. 2) Portlock Storage Manager running from the Portlock Boot CD would crash when peforming an NSS Pool recovery on a corrupted NSS pool. This NSS pool was a customer's NSS pool that had severe problems. Also improved the information reported in the logfile for this case. 3) Fixed an issue with directory and file date and time for the browse feature in Portlock Storage Manager Client. ********************************************************************** Misc Features: ********************************************************************** 1) For NetWare 6.x specify the command line option -nwmm if your system has Multi-Path enabled. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's New in Release 5.16 (January-23-2012) ********************************************************************** New Features: ********************************************************************** 1) Added a new command line option to PSMAGENT.NLM. The new command line option is -NWIO. Using this command line option instructs PSMAGENT to use the old disk driver interface (DSK) when detecting disk drives. This option is used to support older NetWare 4.x server that have not been upgraded to use the new NWPA (HAM) driver interface. ********************************************************************** Bugs Fixed: ********************************************************************** 1) Two issues with Portlock Storage Manager Client not releasing TCP connections with PSMAGENT.NLM have been fixed. 2) Fixed an issue where Portlock Storage Manager Client could not obtain information about the system processors. ********************************************************************** Misc Features: ********************************************************************** 1) Added the command line option -report_io_errors=0 so that disk I/O errors are not reported during an image command. Normally a disk I/O error will pause the image command. Adding this command line option allows the image command to complete even if there are bad sectors. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's New in Release 5.15 (December-28-2011) ********************************************************************** New Features: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ********************************************************************** Bugs Fixed: ********************************************************************** 1) Fixed an issue with the SCSI Ultrium tape drive and NWTAPE.CDM. NWTAPE.CDM would freeze the device queue for the tape drive causing Portlock Storage Manager to hang when issuing tape commands. This issue is fixed by unfreezing the tape queue before accessing the tape drive. ********************************************************************** Misc Features: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's New in Release 5.14 (December-22-2011) ********************************************************************** New Features: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ********************************************************************** Bugs Fixed: ********************************************************************** 1) Corrected the list of invalid chars for NetWare File Server Names. Added the chars ". " (period and space) as illegal. ********************************************************************** Misc Features: ********************************************************************** 1) Removed the "Check for Updates" command. This feature is now part of Portlock Storage Manager Client. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's New in Release 5.13 (November-28-2011) ********************************************************************** New Features: ********************************************************************** 1) New drive command: Disk Geometry. This commands supports manually setting the disk geometry. ********************************************************************** Bugs Fixed: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ********************************************************************** Misc Features: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's New in Release 5.12 (November-14-2011) ********************************************************************** New Features: ********************************************************************** 1) A default configuration file is now supported. This file is named STORMGR.INI. Any command line option or command from the Portlock Scripting Guide is supported. The primary purpose of the STORMGR.INI file is to set command line options that are always used. For example, for NetWare 3.x and 4.x, Portlock Storage Manager will prompt for the I/O Subsystem Type. This option can then be specified in STORMGR.INI to prevent further prompting. ********************************************************************** Bugs Fixed: ********************************************************************** 1) Fixed an issue with Portock Storage Manager Client "File Browser" feature where PSMAGENT.NLM would crash on NetWare 5.0. 2) Fixed an issue with the DirectoryExists command in PSMAGENT where the error value was not returned to the calling application. ********************************************************************** Misc Features: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's New in Release 5.11 (November-07-2011) ********************************************************************** New Features: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ********************************************************************** Bugs Fixed: ********************************************************************** 1) If the LONG name space is not loaded on the SYS volume, the stormgr.lic license file could not be opened. 2) If the LONG name space is not loaded on a volume, a logfile cannot be created on that volume. 3) If the license file cannot be opened and scripting is enabled, the software would loop forever trying to open the license file. 4) Fixed a resource leak for TCP/IP sockets not being closed on exit. 5) Fixed a resource leak for memory not being released on exit. 6) STORMGR.NLM did not autoload PSMAGENT.NLM on NetWare 4.x. 7) The File Browser feature in Portlock Storage Manager Client could not display volumes if the volume did not have the LONG name space loaded. ********************************************************************** Misc Features: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's New in Release 5.10 (September-25-2011) ********************************************************************** New Features: ********************************************************************** 1) The command line option -logfile supports two replacement variables. %VARDATE% This variable will be replaced with the current date in the format YYYYMMDD. %VARTIME% This variable will be replaced with the current time in the format HHMMSS. Example: -logfile=sys:/logs/stormgr_%VARDATE%_%VARTIME%.log This becomes -logfile=sys:/logs/stormgr_20110922_123000.log for the current date Sep-22-2011 at 12:30:00. ********************************************************************** Bugs Fixed: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ********************************************************************** Misc Features: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's New in Release 5.09 (September-18-2011) ********************************************************************** New Features: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ********************************************************************** Bugs Fixed: ********************************************************************** 1) The logfile did not contain information for devices managed by the NetWare Media Manager interface. 2) Diagnostic partitions would be imaged via script even if the partition was deselected in the Portlock Storage Manager Client wizard. ********************************************************************** Misc Features: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's New in Release 5.08 (July-18-2011) ********************************************************************** Design Changes ********************************************************************** 1) Portlock License Manager has been renamed to Portlock Storage Manager. Portlock Storage Manager now consists of two parts, one that runs on Windows connecting to the second part that runs on NetWare. ********************************************************************** New Features: ********************************************************************** 1) Portlock License Manager renamed to Portlock Storage Manager. 2) Support for NetWare 3.12 and 3.20. Note: TCPIP is required for NetWare 3.x (and all NetWare versions). 3) Added new command line option -nwmm. Note: This option is for NetWare 5.x and 6.x. Added support for using the NetWare Media Manager for disk devices. This requires using the command line option -nwmm. Enabling this option turns off NWPA support for disk devices and instead uses the NetWare Media Manager for disk devices. This option solves problems with NetWare drivers that do not correctly support the passthru interface (Compaq MSA1000) or the server is using custom CDMs for fault tolerance. 4) Added support for imaging manually created NetWare snapshots. 5) Added support for imaging NSS Pools located on USB devices. This is a side effect of supporting manually creating snapshots. Note: Portlock continues to not recommend using USB disk drives on NetWare servers: a) Only NetWare 6.5 SP8 has reasonable support for USB disk drives. b) High CPU usage while accessing USB disk drives. c) NetWare does not support USB drives going to sleep and will cause volumes / pools located on the USB disk drive to deactivate with possible data loss. d) Many older NetWare servers only support USB 1.1 which is too slow for USB disk drives. Double check that your hardware has USB 2.0 ports. ********************************************************************** Bugs Fixed: ********************************************************************** 1) The -NoCheckPartitionIDs command line option would report an error. 2) Fixed an issue with online imaging where Portlock Storage Manager would report unassigned blocks after checking the snapshot of the pool being imaged. This turns out to be a race condition where NetWare is still creating the snapshot in the background. The solution is to activate the snapshot and then mount the volumes within the snapshot. This finalizes the NetWare snapshot and solves the problem. Portlock Storage Manager now does this automatically. 3) When imaging the SYS Pool offline, java is unloaded. Added "java -killall" prior to calling "java -exit". 4) When imaging the SYS Pool offline from a script, McAffee NetShield was not unloaded automatically. 5) When imaging the SYS Pool offline from a script, conlog.nlm was not unloaded automatically. 6) When imaging the SYS Pool offline from a script, cron.nlm was not unloaded automatically. 7) If there were two pools with the same name and one was a deleted pool, Portlock Storage Manager would report an error about duplicate pool segments. 8) The Change Partition Label command would fail if a new DOS partition label string was longer than 11 characters. 9) Data loss during Pool Restore. If an NSS segment was selected that meet the following criteria, it was possible that that other pools within the same NSS Master Partition would be lost: a) The partition selected must be a free space partition. b) The partition selected must be equal or smaller than the desired pool size. c) There are NSS pools after the selected partition. Portlock Storage Manager would then convert the free space partition into an NSS partition and would fail to link the new partition into the list of NSS partitions. Any partitions following this partition within the same Master Partition would be lost. 10) Restore crash in WinPE (PBCD) when restoring a multi-segment traditional volume on NetWare 4.11. 11) PSMAGENT.NLM would not load on system without TCPIP.NLM loaded. PSMAGENT.NLM and PSMAGENT2.NLM now autoload TCPIP.NLM. ********************************************************************** Misc Features: ********************************************************************** 1) If scripting is enabled, certain NLMs if loaded, such as NSSMU, would prevent the image script from running. 2) If "secure console" has been executed at the server console, Portlock License Manager could not images the NetWare server. The solution requires the following: a) Portlock License Manager verions 5.17 or newer. b) Portlock Storage Manager version 5.08 or newer. c) Add "search add sys:/stormgr" without the quotes to the autoexec.ncf file. Secure console does not allow specifying absolute path names when loading an NLM. An NLM is located from the search paths. 3) Warnings about missing boot code will now only be displayed once for a specific drive. 4) Modified Portlock Storage Manager to support loading on NetWare systems that do not have TCP/IP loaded and configured. This is not a normal supported configuration but may be necessary for systems that are having problems. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's New in Release 5.07 (Jan-24-2011) ********************************************************************** New Features: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ********************************************************************** Bugs Fixed: ********************************************************************** 1) Fixed an issue when restoring an NSS pool where the required size was rounded down instead of rounded up. This caused the required size to be displayed as one megabyte too small. 2) When restoring an NSS Pool for NetWare 6.0 when running from the Portlock Boot CD, the hotfix table for the NSS partition was not created. This prevents the partition from being mirrored. 3) When copying an NSS Pool for NetWare 6.0 when running from the Portlock Boot CD, the hotfix table for the NSS partition was not created. This prevents the partition from being mirrored. 4) When moving an NSS Pool for NetWare 6.0 when running from the Portlock Boot CD, the hotfix table for the NSS partition was not created. This prevents the partition from being mirrored. ********************************************************************** Misc Features: ********************************************************************** 1) None. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's New in Release 5.06 (Jan-11-2011) ********************************************************************** New Features: ********************************************************************** 1) Added support for imaging NetWare 4.11 SP9 / 4.2 SP9 with Portlock License Manager. Older versions of NetWare 4.x are not officially supported but should function. Upgrade to SP9 to minimize issues. 2) Added support for remote file browsing for Portlock License Manager. This support is located in PSMAGENT.NLM. PSMAGENT must be loadd on the NetWare server to enable remote file browsing and access from Portlock License Manager. ********************************************************************** Bugs Fixed: ********************************************************************** 1) System Commands -> Recv File. Changing the TCP Port was ignored. 2) System Commands -> Recv File. This command could abend the server if the file transfer failed. 3) WinPE. Fixed a crash in Portlock Storage Manager if a system is booted with the Portlock Boot CD and there are no Ethernet adapters. 4) Fixed an issue where Portlock Storage Manager running from the Portlock Boot CD would not choose the correct license if the license was expired. 5) Fixed an issue where Portlock Storage Manager would disconnect an imaging session with Portlock License Manager during a long Pool Check on NetWare 6.x. 6) Fixed a timeout issue with the ProFTP server. This ftp server is used by the ReadyNAS products. ********************************************************************** Misc Features: ********************************************************************** 1) Scripting: If the server will be downed or rebooted after an image the volumes will not be remounted after an image completes. 2) Scripting: Added support for downing and rebooting a NetWare 3.x or 4.x server. 3) Added command line option -NWPA. This command line option was documented but not implemented. 4) Added command line option -NWIO. This command line option was documented but not implemented. 5) Added support for Portlock License Manager so that Portlock License Manager can manage a NetWare 4.x server from Windows Vista / 7. The Novell Client does not support NetWare 4.x from Vista or 7 due to dropping support for IPX. Load PSMAGENT.NLM on NetWare 4.x so that Portlock License Manager can manage NetWare 4.x servers. 6) Added support so that Portlock License Manager could obtain the list of tape drivers for the imaging wizard. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's New in Release 5.05 (Sep-12-2010) ********************************************************************** New Features: ********************************************************************** 1) Image Scripting. IMAGEMGR.NLM from older versions of Portlock Storage Manager would abend the server if IMAGEMGR.NLM from 3.36 autoloaded PORTLOCK.NLM from version 4.x. 2) Change the -imageftp command line option to support filenames longer than 16 characters. The maximum length is now 127 characters 3) Support long filenames for the -logfile command line option. 4) No longer converts -logfile file name to uppercase. 5) No longer converts -imagefile file name to uppercase. 6) Added a new command line option to disable checking for Duplicate Partition IDs: -NoCheckPartitionIDs 7) Added a new command line option -image_pool=pool_name This command line option causes unspecified pools to be skipped. Note: -image_pool can be used up to 16 times. ********************************************************************** Bugs Fixed: ********************************************************************** 1) Removed the warning that POWPATH.CDM was not supported. In verion 4.00, EMC's Multipathing support was added to Portlock Storage Manager but the warning was not removed. 2) Buffer overrun was being reported in the tape changer code, when there really was not a buffer overrun. 3) Fixed an issue where the command line option -snapshot is no longer ignored. 4) Fixed an issue where a buffer overrun was being reported for tape changers. 5) Fixed an issue with Online Pool Imaging. In the dialog box to select the snapshot pool, if ESC is pressed instead of selecting a pool, the server would abend. Note: this issue only existed in the beta version and not in the production release. ********************************************************************** Notes: ********************************************************************** 1) MEGA4_XX.HAM drivers. The 6.x version of these drivers have a problem in the interrupt code. If used with Portlock Storage Manager the server will abend. Use version 3.09 or 7.0.4 or later of these drivers.
